A vibrant + unified town center

Designed by the Buchan Group and Place Design Group, the Sovereign Hills Town Centre offers an immersive retail experience and social interchange that focuses on the connection to its natural surroundings. Located midway between the scenic coastline and hinterland of Port Macquarie, NSW, the 2.5-hectare development provides a vibrant space for the community.

Integrated public space

Working closely with the Buchan design team and the developer, Place Design Group was engaged to create a master planned community between the coast and the country to ensure the centre met the demands of an increasingly savvy regional customer base. A sequence of vibrant public spaces was created through a connecting town centre spine to provide an array of recreational activities and open space parklands and a strong sense of place.

Social hubs

To complement and sit within the fully integrated network of public spaces, outdoor social hubs were created, delineated by a range of striking pergolas. Accessibility was also a considered part of the design to ensure wheelchair users could use the space without obstruction.

Timeless design

The Terrain collection of benches and tables was selected to sit harmoniously within a series of alfresco areas for the community to use for socializing, dining, and enjoying the outdoors. Unified by trapezoidal design elements, the solid Australian Eucalyptus hardwood battens together with matt black powder-coated steel framing adds strength and visual appeal to these public spaces.
